About Coasteering
Coasteering combines the best of ocean adventure — cliff jumping, swimming, rock scrambling, and exploring sea caves along Madeira's dramatic volcanic shoreline. It's the perfect activity for those who love the ocean and want an active way to experience the coast.
Routes follow natural formations, with guides leading groups along rocky coastlines, into sea caves, and to jump spots where you can leap from 2 to 10+ meters into deep, clear Atlantic water. The volcanic geology creates incredible formations — arches, tunnels, and natural swimming pools that you explore along the way.
No experience is necessary, though basic swimming ability is required. Guides assess conditions and adapt routes based on tides, swells, and group ability. Wetsuits keep you warm in the refreshing Atlantic waters, and buoyancy aids provide extra security for less confident swimmers.
Popular coasteering locations include Caniço, Câmara de Lobos, and Porto Moniz, each offering different character and challenges.
