What you send us, and why

WhatsApp messages. The WhatsApp buttons open WhatsApp with a message already written. If you send it, we receive your phone number, your WhatsApp name and whatever you write. We use it to answer your question about your trip and to follow up on that question. Replies may be prepared or sent with the help of software, including AI tools. If your request needs a local operator, we may pass your request and contact details to that operator so they can answer you. You can ask us not to.

The contact form. If you use the form on the contact page, we receive your name, your email address and your message. The form is run by our hosting provider, Netlify, which stores the submission so we can read it and reply.

We keep messages for as long as we need them to deal with your request and follow it up, and we delete them when you ask.

What happens automatically

Hosting. The site is hosted by Netlify. To deliver pages and protect the site, Netlify processes technical data such as your IP address, your browser type and the pages you request.

Your cookie choice. The banner stores your answer (accept or decline) in your browser's local storage, so it does not ask again on every page.

Analytics. When Google Analytics is switched on, it sets its cookies only if you accept them in the banner. If you decline, it can still receive page-view signals that carry no cookie and no identifier.

GetYourGuide and Viator. Our pages load a script from GetYourGuide, and the activities page loads a widget from Viator, to show their activities and to credit bookings made through our links. When these load, GetYourGuide and Viator receive your IP address and browser data and may set their own cookies. Their privacy policies apply to that data.

When you book

Booking links take you to GetYourGuide, Viator, DiscoverCars or the company that runs the activity. You book with them, and their privacy policy applies to everything you give them. They report bookings and commissions to us without your name or contact details.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, object to how we use it, or ask for it in a portable format. Send the request by WhatsApp using the number on the contact page. We answer within one month. If you are not satisfied with the answer, you can complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, the CNPD (cnpd.pt), or to the authority in your own country.

When this page changes, the date at the top changes with it.
